Supporting schools to reduce inequality and disadvantage amongst Black, Asian and ethnically diverse groups

As a former Headteacher with over 20 years’ experience in the field of education my passion to create greater equality is influenced by the desire to increase the life chances of young people within Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities and other disadvantaged groups. My strategic objectives have centred securely on identifying and taking key actions that supported my students to become ‘compelling individuals’; individuals who exceeded their academic potential and were destined to be become positive influencers of social change, especially for the communities they live in.

Over recent years, schools have faced rapid changes to the curriculum and to qualifications with decreasing budgets alongside increased leadership accountability. The knock on effect for inner city schools has been ever increasing difficulties in recruiting and retaining highly effective staff, and in securing positive feelings of staff well-being.

Coaching is a powerful tool which can be used by schools to support school leaders and staff to feel empowered, confident and invested not only in their own personal development but in the successes of young people, the school and the community in which they serve.

My work focuses specifically on working with leaders with a strong moral compass, driven to securing high standards and outcomes for all students. On a 1-1 or group basis, I work to remove limiting beliefs, clarify goals and support individuals to plan effectively in order to achieve the school’s strategic objectives within a framework of consistency and high expectations.

I offer 1-1 and group coaching programmes for Black, Asian and ethnically diverse groups:

1.       Middle or senior leaders, including those aspiring to leadership or in need of additional support

2.       To increase representation within governing bodies.

3.       Supporting KS4 and KS5 students at risk of underachievement

4. Working with parents to effectively support their children's education

I am NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) qualified and have served as governor at primary level, and on a variety of local authority consortiums and committees. I have also been a facilitator for the National Professional Qualifications at both middle and senior level.
